Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say early analysis show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the incident rendered him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in 2020.
